Our i Styles' Favorite Reads | DiSC Personality Types

Building the industry bookshelf one recommended read at a time.

Is your DiSC style an i? You’ve come to the right place. As an i, you’re probably an optimistic visionary who loves freedom and big ideas. Giving motivational pep talks is your jam. (Not sure what your style is? Click here to take the DiSC personality test).

We have quite a few i’s at redpepper, and they always inspire us to keep on keepin’ on—kind of like our favorite books. In the spirit of sharing our favorite ways to stay motivated and grow at redpepper, here are a few book recommendations from redpepper’s i styles:

Fear Is My Homeboy: How to Slay Doubt, Boss Up, and Succeed on Your Own Terms by Judi Holler

As an iS, I care a lot about what people think and their influence affects me. This book teaches you to rely more on yourself and how to embrace your fear (what other people think) and move forward despite it. It also speaks quite a bit how to structure your life to be successful, so the S in me loves that!

Sara Keyes, Project Manager

The Harry Potter series
by J.K. Rowling

As a high i, the imagination, character development, and importance of friendship resonated deeply. I just adore it.

Carly Nealy, Account Director

The Art Of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein

This is my favorite book. I'm an iS, and this book is narrated by a golden retriever who is very enthusiastic and very attached to people. Basically, it's a story of sacrifice and understanding. Going with my style, I'm okay with sacrificing my energy and time, if it's in order to uplift and support someone I care about. A MUST READ.

Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R. Hawkins

As an iD, I’m enthusiastic, always looking for the next thing, definitely ok with uncertainty (to an extent), but I also struggle hard with feeling like I have a purpose, feeling content, and often feeling stuck.

This book reallyyyy drives home how to find happiness and contentment in life by simply letting go of what doesn’t produce positive thinking or feelings and thrive in what you have. It teaches how to reach an enlightened mindstate where you can’t be anything but free, content, and happy because you continually surrender the bad/negative away and let go of it.

Carrie Pickering, Digital Project Manager/ Producer

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

As an iD, I’m okay without a whole lot of certainty, and this book definitely reinforced how that can be a good thing. But it also challenged me to not give as many sh*ts about what other people think. Still working on that one…
